SUMMARY:Gerald Butts: Power\, Geopolitics and the Energy Transition
DESCRIPTION:As geopolitical tensions reshape global energy markets\, countries are competing for energy security\, critical minerals\, technology\, and industrial advantage\, while AI’s growing demand for power raises the stakes. Gerald Butts\, Chairman of Eurasia Group\, joins Converge for a candid conversation on how the world’s major economies are positioning themselves and where that leaves Canada. SUMMARY:The Capital Stack for Climate Hard Tech
DESCRIPTION:A moderated conversation spanning the full financing journey\, from first cheque to first plant. Hard tech runs on patient capital: long development cycles\, capital-intensive milestones\, and a demonstration or first-of-a-kind (FOAK) plant before there’s a customer. Venture investors and project finance specialists from coast to coast get into where each kind of capital fits\, and where it doesn’t: how early-stage venture terms differ from project finance terms\, what convinces an investor to back a first plant\, what almost killed a deal\, and how government funding and strategic partners fit alongside both. Built for founders navigating that transition and for investors on either side of it. \nDevin Campbell\, Founding Partner\, The New Industrial Corporation \nTrish Nixon\, Venture Partner\, Amplify Capital \nCaroline (Lester) de Bossart\, Director\, Grantham Foundation \nKa-Hay Law\, Chief Investment Officer\, NorthX Climate Tech (Moderator)
