Sarah brings deep climate policy expertise and cross-sector leadership to NorthX. As CEO, she drives our mission to scale breakthrough climate technologies and build lasting prosperity for Canada. 

Before joining NorthX, Sarah served as a Partner at Boston Consulting Group advising on climate solutions and green industrial policy, and as the Prime Minister’s Senior Advisor on Climate Action, where she shaped national climate plans and mobilized over $100B in federal investments. 

Her career spans founding a climate advisory firm, executive roles at Teck Resources and Weyerhaeuser, and senior leadership at a philanthropic organization. Sarah holds an MBA from the University of Warwick and a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University.

Todd brings over two decades of strategic leadership in energy systems to NorthX, where he drives initiatives to accelerate climate tech commercialization and scaling.

Before joining NorthX, Todd delivered transformative outcomes across Shell’s core businesses in strategic secondments, generating significant value for stakeholders. His expertise spans commercial and operational leadership, governance, mega-project execution, and driving value in assets and energy markets. 

As a collaborative and resilient leader, Todd excels at fostering innovation and aligning teams with shared goals to create meaningful impact. He holds an Executive MBA from Cornell University and Queen’s University and is passionate about expediting affordable, secure, low-carbon energy solutions for BC and the world.

Brendan brings entrepreneurial insight and financial expertise to NorthX, helping climate tech ventures navigate the critical path from promising technology to market-ready business. 

Before joining NorthX, Brendan established a family office managing a portfolio of investments following the successful sale of his family business in 2017. As a Finance Director, he has guided diverse early-stage companies through crucial scaling challenges, developing a keen understanding of the capital and operational requirements for growth-stage ventures.

Brendan’s combined experience as both investor and operational leader gives him unique perspective on the challenges facing climate tech founders as they commercialize breakthrough technologies. He is passionate about building financially sustainable businesses that deliver both climate impact and economic returns.

Lindsay is a seasoned strategic communicator with deep experience across the technology, government, education, and not-for-profit sectors. At NorthX, she leads storytelling, stakeholder engagement, and media strategy to elevate its leadership in climate tech investment.  Known for her collaborative approach and ability to translate complex ideas into compelling stories, Lindsay plays a key role in shaping NorthX’s public profile and industry voice.

Before NorthX, Lindsay spent six years as a communications consultant with Hill & Knowlton and NATIONAL Public Relations, where she advised some of Canada’s most prominent technology brands. Prior to her agency work, she led communications, marketing, and events at Innovate BC for nine years, including the #BCTECH Summit.  

Lindsay serves on the Board of Directors of the Vancouver Entrepreneur’s Forum and is a graduate of UBC’s Sauder School of Business. She is passionate about advocating for women in technology and leadership roles and regularly mentors emerging communicators in the tech sector. 

Omar manages all climate tech investments at NorthX, bringing experience in energy investment management and late-stage venture capital. His background provides valuable insight into how established industries and emerging technologies can align for successful energy transition.

Before NorthX, Omar worked as an investment manager for an early-stage mining and energy fund and a late-stage venture capital growth equity fund managing a cumulative of +$400 M in AUM. He was also a co-founder of a recycled plastic pallet company that scaled sales to customers including Honda, Toyota, Berry Global Group, and Sunoco.  

He focuses on identifying opportunities where corporate partnerships and strategic investments can accelerate the commercialization of climate hard tech. Omar is particularly interested in understanding how companies will cooperate and invest in the clean energy transition.  Omar holds an MBA from Oxford University with a focus on energy and sustainability.

Evan drives investment and strategy at NorthX, where he evaluates and structures early-stage investments in climate hard tech. He brings a multidisciplinary background that combines business with civil and environmental engineering, with a focus on clean energy technologies and startup operations.

Prior to NorthX, Evan helped build a pre-seed startup focused on construction automation, leading business development, go-to-market strategy, and early product design. He also brings hands-on experience in engineering and capital project execution, having worked on large-scale infrastructure and building restoration projects in both municipal and private-sector settings. 

He holds a dual degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering with distinction and Honours in Business Administration from Western University and is an alum of the Venture for Canada Fellowship. 

Ashley assesses bioenergy opportunities at NorthX, bringing environmental science expertise and over six years of industry experience. Her technical knowledge helps identify promising solutions that can transform BC’s bioeconomy.  

Before NorthX, Ashley worked with the BC Bioenergy Network. She specializes in evaluating low-carbon technologies and facilitating strategic partnerships that accelerate commercialization in the bioenergy sector. Ashley is committed to advancing practical climate solutions that create economic value while reducing emissions.

Chantelle evaluates carbon management, biofuels, and hydrogen investments at NorthX, bringing over ten years of experience across private and public sectors. Her expertise helps identify promising climate technologies with commercial potential.  

Before NorthX, Chantelle worked on advancing carbon dioxide removal policy in the U.S., led the business development of a biofuel startup in B.C., and supported the implementation of B.C.’s Hydrogen Strategy in her role at the B.C. government. Her contributions to the hydrogen sector earned recognition as one of Hydrogen Economist’s 2022 Women in Hydrogen 50. She is passionate about creating practical decarbonization pathways for hard-to-abate industries.

Sep evaluates energy storage and battery technologies at NorthX, bringing professional engineering expertise and entrepreneurial experience. His background includes co-founding VOLTiFiC, recognized among the top 10 NewVenture BC companies in 2018. 

Before NorthX, Sep worked in the power industry specializing in battery systems. He chairs IEEE P3163 and serves as vice-chair of IEEE 485 and 1679.4. Sep is passionate about helping British Columbia entrepreneurs scale their climate tech businesses.

Belinda is an experienced office administrator with several years of experience, delivering exceptional service at a variety of different companies and industries in Vancouver. She has a degree in Environmental Studies and is excited to support the team and contribute to NorthX’s projects.

Kristin supports marketing initiatives at NorthX, bringing business expertise and creative skills to help communicate our mission and impact. Her background allows her to effectively promote climate technologies to key stakeholders. 

Kristin holds a degree in business and is passionate about leveraging her marketing capabilities to advance sustainable and innovative solutions that address climate challenges.

Matthew manages technical projects at NorthX, bringing certified project management expertise with a focus on energy infrastructure and strategy. His engineering background helps evaluate and advance complex climate technologies. 

Before NorthX, Matthew delivered energy transition projects across Canada, the UK, and Europe. He has technical training in chemical and energy engineering and is dedicated to accelerating the commercialization of solutions that advance the clean energy transition.
