NorthX Climate Tech (formerly the BC Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy) was founded in October 2021 with $105M raised through commitments from the Government of British Columbia, Shell Canada Ltd., and the Government of Canada (through Natural Resources Canada – Energy Innovation Program).

NorthX operates as a not-for-profit — completely independent from public and private entities.
