2025 Call for Wildfire Tech Innovation

NorthX is inviting all eligible and interested applicants to apply to its 2025 Wildfire Tech Call for Innovation.

Through this call, up to $3 million in non-dilutive investments will be awarded to Canadian-based innovators developing commercial pathways to scale hard-tech wildfire management solutions across the value chain that directly address associated emissions.

Why Wildfire Tech Innovation?

Canada faces growing economic, environmental, and social risks from increasingly severe wildfires. Reducing these impacts requires new technologies to detect, prevent, manage, and recover from wildfires—while also tackling the emissions they produce.

Canada has a unique opportunity to lead by harnessing its strengths: world-class forest management expertise, traditional ecological knowledge, cutting-edge research institutions, and deep partnerships with communities and Indigenous rights holders. Together, these assets can position Canada at the forefront of global wildfire resilience, building stronger ecosystems, safer communities, and cleaner air.

Who can apply?

NorthX will fund Canadian companies advancing wildfire tech solutions. While projects may be conducted outside Canada, preference will be given to those demonstrating the greatest impact in BC and across Canada.

Projects activities may include, but are not limited to, demonstrations and pilot projects, innovative implementation solutions, novel linkage of system components, prevention, mitigation, or adaption technologies, and business model innovations.

To comply with NorthX’s mandate, projects are required to fall between Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 4-9. Please refer to the applicant guide for a full list of considerations and eligibility requirements.

Applicants will be accepted until November 27th at 5 pm PST.
