2026 Call for Innovation: Women in Climate Tech

Apply today for the 2026 Call for Innovation: Women in Climate Tech

NorthX’s mission to strengthen Canada’s climate innovation ecosystem includes a commitment to increasing representation among women-led ventures advancing climate innovation and economic impact.

Through the 2026 Call for Innovation: Women in Climate Tech, NorthX will invest up to $3 million in ventures tackling some of the toughest challenges in global decarbonization, while building a stronger climate tech ecosystem in BC and across Canada.

Why women in climate tech?

The Women in Climate Tech initiative is built on the belief that unlocking the full spectrum of talent accelerates both climate progress and economic resilience. By supporting women-led innovators developing high-impact climate solutions across the climate value chain, NorthX is strengthening Canada’s innovation ecosystem, driving sustainable economic growth, and positioning the country to compete in a rapidly changing global landscape.

Women founders remain significantly underrepresented in climate tech investment pipelines, despite strong technical performance and market potential. NorthX recognizes that closing this gap requires intentional, sustained action not only through funding, but through commercialization support designed to meet founders where they are. Through the Call for Innovation: Women in Climate Tech, NorthX is fostering an innovation environment where founders who identify as women have equitable opportunities to grow, scale, and succeed.

As Canada’s largest funder of early-stage climate hard-tech innovation, NorthX has committed $17 million—37% of its total funding to date—to women founders. This model is working: women-founded companies supported by NorthX have already raised $69 million in follow-on investment, demonstrating the catalytic effect of this model

Timeline

*Projects must demonstrate measurable direct replacement or removal of GHG emissions from high carbon-intensity energy and/or feedstock. Priority will also be given to projects that have measurable BC-based impact.*

Application deadline: March 13, 2026
