Insporos Technologies is a Vancouver-based physical AI company building the data layer for the source of agriculture. Its non-destructive seed analysis and sorting platform evaluates individual seeds for viability, vigour, uniformity, and seed-borne disease risk, helping growers and seed companies reduce waste, improve biosecurity, and make better use of water, energy, space, and agricultural inputs.

The Problem

Seed quality testing today relies on destructive sampling. To determine whether seeds will germinate or carry disease, only a small sample from each seed lot can be tested, with results assumed to represent the entire batch. This leaves growers making planting decisions based on statistical estimates rather than the quality of the individual seeds they actually plant. Rare but costly issues, such as seed-borne disease, can be missed, while greenhouse growers often overseed to ensure enough healthy plants reach production. Every unsuccessful seed still consumes water, energy, substrate, and greenhouse space, creating significant and largely unaddressed waste.

The Solution

Non-destructive seed scanning for healthier seeds, lower waste, and greater resource efficiency.

Insporos has developed a proprietary physical AI platform that makes seed testing non-destructive. The platform screens individual seeds for viability, vigour, and disease risk before planting without harming the seed, enabling growers to identify healthy seeds, detect seed-borne disease that sampling can miss, and reduce unnecessary overseeding and the resources spent raising plants that were unlikely to succeed.

NorthX’s investment supports the transition from a validated prototype to a commercial-scale system deployed with a commercial greenhouse propagation facility in British Columbia across two full validation cycles. The project will generate an independently validated seed-to-plant dataset linking individual seed decisions to measurable resource and emissions savings while providing the performance evidence needed to accelerate commercial adoption.

“This technology can change how the world grows food from the very first step, the seed. By making it possible to know the potential of each seed before it’s planted, we can help growers get far more from every seed, every greenhouse, and every drop of water, and take a real bite out of the resources and emissions tied up in producing food, while reducing uncertainty in the process. NorthX’s support is allowing us to prove that at full commercial scale, and to build the evidence that takes this from a proven prototype to real impact in the field. We’re proud to be building this internationally applicable technology as a women-led company at home here in BC’s climate tech sector.”
